Dear Subscribers,
I was so excited when I saw this video I immediately asked Wild is LIfe/Zimbabwe Elephant Nursery if I could share it with you. I am delighted that they said ‘yes’!
Wild is Life/Zimbabwe Elephant Nursery is one of the three nonprofits in Zimbabwe that we support.
Over to them:
“We have been working on a very special project for some years that turned out to be quite complicated, but so rewarding!
Our vision is to produce a short film filmed from the perspective of an elephant in the wild…
To do so we attached GoPro cameras to the satellite tracking collars that some of the elephants wear to allow us to monitor their movements in the wild.
Through a lot of trial and error, and amazing cooperation from the elephants, especially Matabele and Annabelle, we have managed to capture some incredible and unique footage and the project is ongoing.
This unique footage is a small compilation of the work we are doing in Panda Masuie in Rewilding orphan elephants.
We hope you enjoy this footage and will accompany us on this long and complex story of enabling the rescued elephants to return to the wild in Africa. Our purpose, our mission.”
Each year on Mindful Safari we visit to observe the elephants of Panda Masuie and meet their amazing carers, including Simba. Panda Masuie is a serious conservation project, not open to the general public. We have just had a cancellation from one of our Mindful Safari guests this year - so a room has become available. Please let us know if you’d like to join us. You’ll find more on Mindful Safari here.
