A practical reason to meditate I've discovered using Firstbest.com analytics used to train Olympic teams. The challenge is to maintain high energy with low stress. 15 minutes of meditation in the morning if accompanied by gratitude and setting the direction for the day helps maintain high energy and low stress throughout the morning as repeatedly measured on the watch.
I started meditating 3.5 years ago. Was difficult emotional time for me. After a few months, I mentioned to my therapist that I wish I had discovered mediation years ago. I stepped back a few months ago, but am back now. With the nicer weather, I meditate outside in the mornings. Quiet, peaceful , good.
I love your reasons for meditation. Recently, I participated in a pain tolerance study at the local university. I asked them if, one time, at the end, they wanted me to meditate while they applied the pain. They were using a probe that produced a burning sensation. I asked them to wait until I said okay and put myself in a state of oneness with the universe floating in space. Not only did my tolerance increase so they had to stop before physically burning my skin, but my heart rate and blood pressure decreased at the same time. It wasn't that I wasn't aware of what they were doing and felt nothing, but I was intentionally detached from it. As soon as they stopped, I returned to my physical awareness. It was a choice.
Fascinating - thank you so much for sharing, Lisa. I saw a presentation by Dr Bruno Cayoun on this subject - there's a fair bit of research about this: https://www.mindfulness.net.au/news/equanimity/
Loved the blankets on the ellies and goat. One of my favorite ways of contributing to my local animal rescue organization (for which I serve as president of the auxiliary which raised over $200K last fiscal year) is knitting and sewing brand new blankets for animals to take to their furever home when they are adopted.
Excellent explanation of what finally made it all click with me- watching my thoughts from a detached perspective. Like clouds, thoughts are things, not divine, or otherwise, directive’s. Meditating helps me practice that process and it just seems to automatically transfer to day to day living. Thank you David- Namaste 🙏 ❤️🙏
Med itation…good medicine for our souls is how I view it…
and yet another way to start to become the Oneness that is…
As a seeker at a very young age I always knew my true path is to “ get back to God”
All the rest feels like fluff really and because of my spiritual practices ( meditation etc) and an increasing uncluttered mind my journey back home is what my thoughts are mostly about…
Being around animals and their unconditional Love and their “ knowing hearts” has made my journey so delightful and that is where I “ see” the beauty of oneness everyday. What a gift!
Thank you David for the reminder of why meditation is also a gift from The One. 💓
Thank you so much for this David- I’m sharing this with my sceptical, too busy, high performing family and friends!!! Your explanation is so succinct and so very true.🙏

Thank you David. Three words you used being tranquil, peaceful and bliss. It says it all. That’s why I meditate.
I love the ele’s and the goat in their crocheted blankets.
Enjoy your trip
So glad you enjoyed this, thanks Peter!

Glad you enjoyed it, Tom!
Good article... and I absolutely LOVE the goat blanket..!
Thanks so much for your message - and welcome to our group!
David another timely reminder! I had a thought that meditation is like resetting a computer or phone - turn it off and turn it on!
That's an interesting metaphor Chris, I like it!
Appreciate this 🙏🏽 thanks
Love the name Noble Primate!
