Thank you so much for the tale of King Wenceslas. I was born in Prague but came to Canada 76 years ago. I have seen the statue in your post and also wonder if the magical picture of the castle at the beginning, could be of Karlstien Castle? In a rather barbaric age when power often translated into violence King Wenceslas stands out as an enlightened monarch. Thank you David for a very seasonal story. Daniela
Thanks so much for your message, Daniela. Vaclav the Good certainly seems like he was cut from a different cloth from many of his peers. I am not sure about the castle, which I found on unsplashed, and I felt was quite evocative. How wonderful to have been born in Prague, my favourite central European city!
David, I enjoy your writings so much! I have read all your books and find pearls in each one. I read this story twice. It was a treasure chest of gems. The cherry on the Sunday was emperor Leo’s last words …”Death is merely the end of an idea we briefly had about ourselves. Like a character who changes during a dream.”
Dear David, a truly beautiful and inspired story, thank you for writing for us such a truly profound story. As I’ve said before you have such a gift and blessings to you for sharing it.
It will become precious Christmas reading for me through the years I have left and hopefully for all those I shared it with, and who indeed you have shared it with. May beauty and grace be with you and divine love within you to share with our fractured world, thank you, Lorraine 💫🙏💖
Thank you for this wonderful holiday season story. I knew nothing about King Wenceslas other than the Christmas Carol, the words of which you cleverly wove in to the story. I never gave that carol a second thought before today! Whst a lovely gift you have given!
David, have not read this piece yet, but a quick shout out to your book: Instant Karma…our spiritual circle is going to read it in January. “What if”…altho instant karma would be good at times…I am also grateful for grace. :)
Thankyou for another inspiring and uplifting offering 🙏 Merry Christmas and a happy new year to you and your loved ones. Thankyou for these wonderful offerings all year, that I have come to look forward to every Saturday 🙏💕🎄
Ho ho ho! Thanks David, and Merry Christmas, or however Buddhists celebrate the birth of enlightened beings, to you and Koala. I am very much looking forward to more wise words of wisdom in 2025! Chris
It’s always a joy to read your writings David! What a lovely and inspiring way to start my day. My heartfelt THANK YOU.

I will certainly try to keep them coming, thank you Carole! And for your wonderful message!
You have reminded me of the true spirit of this season - and, really of all seasons. Meeting life from a place of Bodhichitta is why truly matters.
I am so glad you responded this way, thank you Ann!
