A lot of us have idealised notions of writers retreating from the world to log cabins deep in the woods, to think profound thoughts, sit at their keyboards, and weave the straw of 26 characters into the gold of sublime prose. Well, I don’t have the log cabin in the heart of the forest, but I do have this hut in my homeland of Zimbabwe, Africa, which suits me wonderfully! Downstairs there’s a table from which I can look out at the musasa trees. Upstairs is a bed directly under the thatched roof – for me, there’s nothing quite so reassuring as going to sleep under the golden softness of straw.
What a joy to read about the donation, and to see these photos, David. You are a true treasure and thank you for including me in the joy you are bringing to the world. 🙏🏼💖
May you enjoy sweet dreams, writing and meditating in your beautiful hut David. How precious😊
Thank you for extraordinary substack donation you have made - improving the lives of so many beings and for the offering of teachings and inspiration through your stories and substack. 🙏🏼💐
I also love your hut! What a perfect place for writing and reflection! And I am so happy you reached this milestone in donations! What a wonderful thing for you to do, and to let all of us help you to do this. Awesome!!! So looking forward to your next book!!! Can hardly wait! Thank you, David!
Thank you David and Koala for a wonderful time in Zim. You accommodation is a bit flasher than the mud hut I had imagined! Looking forward to the next instalment and sharing you journey
Your hut is the stuff of dreams - a whole novel, or series of novels, or even a film could easily be based on this hut. Who lives there, who visits there, the nearby villages and journeys. Glad to be part of donations to such wonderful organizations as well.
Your description makes me feel like I am there in the hut, I can almost smell the straw. Thank you for guiding us gently to loving care for all creatures.
Thank you for everything you do and I fully endorse all the positive comments, how genuine and so thoughtfully put.
Writing a novel in itself, must be like taking a holiday, for one who is passionate about writing. A joy for you and a joy for us to read, so write on. Please!
I can't think of a better place for you to unravel your thoughts onto the keyboard. I sense your excitement its very much the same way I feel about painting.
The hut looks beautiful, and I could settle and live there too. But from reading all the comments from like thinking subscribers. It could get a little crowded
Allways my best wishes and pleased everything is going well for you all.
