For a long time it has been my conviction that we are by far the greater beneficiaries in the lives we share with our pets. I’d like to offer this brief excerpt, from the very end of my book Buddhism for Pet Lovers, which I hope may explain just how much they can help us – and we them.

I couldn’t live without my dog Spatz and cat called Boots.
I sit at home with my dear wife who just sits and sleeps. She can’t hold a conversation and yet I love being with. Her after 43 years of marriage and as long as Spatz and Boots are with me, I am content. Thank you. I can not understand people who do not like pets. They miss out on the REAL joys of life I feel
Oh yes, I've received far more from my beautiful cats than I could ever give to them. May all pets and humans live together happily.
