Thanks for thinking alone these practical lines, Kathleen. I'm not sure how much money HHDL does receive - Tibetan Buddhism is not structured in a monolithic way and he has no revenue-collecting powers. The different monasteries and lineages all operate in a fragmented way. HHDL is well aware of the disparities and has spoken about them, but apart from his moral authority, I'm not sure how much he is able to change things. I have come to conclude that the best action we can take is of the direct, financial kind, hence supporting DGL.
I'm so glad to learn more about the nunnery. It is one of our charities about which I knew so little. If i.think about reincarnation, of course I want my life to improve the lives of all others. They have been, and could be, me some day!! Thanks. Kathy
Thank you David for sharing these stories. I like learning how our Substack subscription is helping. I am so happy to be a part of it. It continues to open up my world.
Tenzin Palmo is so wonderful! I am grateful to you and your wife for visiting her and sharing that experience with us. And for giving us all a way to help support the nunnery through this uplifting letter. Two palms together.
What a wonderful article to read and hear more about this amazing nun. I am sure you were honored to meet her. That must have been a special moment and now to see how your donation is helping uplift these other nuns. Wonderful and blessings.
I was thinking if you would like that I translate into Spanish your emails. I can send them to you in the tormat you want and you can post them in your website. Maybe it may increase the number of suscribers.
Great to know the women are getting a real opportunity to reach their full potential. So many cultures limit women and girls lives. Thanks for uplifting stories.
Thank you David 🙏🏼 I am sure Jetsum Palmo raises this issue with HHDL but it is still a troublesome aspect of Tibetan Buddhism that I am very happy to see addressed through her work, and a focus of your work and this community. May your work continue to be inspired and inspriational.
Hi David. Good to see an article about your other charity. Interesting to see sexism is alive and well in Buddhism! Glad you decided to balance your posts. Did you need any prodding from Koala? 😅 Have a peaceful day. May the road rise to meet you and the wind be at your back 😊
I' think it's more a case of 'sexism is alive and well in the Himalaya region.' Like many/most developing world places, where physical brawn and muscle is required for security and to eek out an existence, men dominate and this is reflected in community spending.
Thank you, David for sharing this wonderful place and these beautiful nuns. These updates touch my heart, and give me so much joy to know more about the people and places lifted up by the presence of these amazing, dedicated, loving people. I am so happy to be a small part of this community. 💖
Would it be helpful to petition the Dali Lama to suggest that a certain percentage of the money he receives be given to nunneries that are in need?
And/ or to have him speak more of the value the nuns have to offer? I believe that in the near future the Da,I Lama will incarnate as a woman.
Thank you, Kathleen. I have been wondering about that. 😊🙏

My apologies, I pressed the wrong button and the com was posted before I could correct the spelling. David, your insight is always valuable.
Thank you for sharing this inspiring article David.

Dearest David,

Just an idea.

That's very kind, Rossy but it sounds like a lot of hard work, and I'm not sure how many Spanish-speaking people visit my site.
OMG! I just read the first two chapters and Tenzin Palmo is so gifted in making Buddha's teachings come alive. She's a marvel!
Thank you so much ❤️🙏
She is indeed, Penelope!
Thankyou David, such a wonderful place to visit and so very worthy of all our support and admiration.
