The Dalai Lama's Cat & The Claw of Attraction

Yes, dear readers, we have arrived at that most exciting moment of the publishing process: choosing a cover for the next book!

The new Dalai Lama’s Cat book will be published in November 2023. It is the sixth in the series, can you believe? The title for this next one is The Claw of Attraction - as with previous books, a play on a popular concept as well as a variety of non-fiction titles in the ‘Mind, Body, Spirit’ genre.

During a chance encounter with His Holiness by a group of Social Media Influencers, one of them asks him to explain how to manifest abundance in their lives. The Dalai Lama explains that what they term ‘the law of attraction’ is not a mechanism for worldly gains - which are only of temporary benefit anyway -  but to empower our path to transcendence. In particular to cultivate the mind of enlightenment, not simply as an idea, but as our heartfelt, living reality.

Many of the chapters in the book are stories I have been sharing exclusively here on Substack during the past year. I will be including fresh stories and chapters in the final manuscript. By way of a ‘thank you’ to my loyal, paying subscribers for supporting not only my work, but importantly, the Buddhist and animal rescue charities we help fund, I will give you the new book in electronic format when it launches.

With that as background, which cover to choose?

As always, our ingenious designer Sue Campbell has come up with some wonderful choices. These are DRAFT options, meaning that further work will be done on the winning cover – they are still in development.

A winning cover is the one most likely to make you want to pick up a book in a store, or click online, to find out more about it – i.e. the one that most grabs your attention.
