A message from Jetsunma Tenzin Palmo, of Dongyu Gyatsal Ling nunnery, one of the organisations we support:
In this Holiday Season let's all join our palms together in prayer and wish for the light of wisdom to reach the hearts of everyone in this world. May all beings be well and happy.
With folded hands,
I beseech the Buddhas of all directions
To shine the light of Dharma
For all those bewildered in misery’s gloom.
- A Guide To The Bodhisattva Way Of Life by Shantideva
And two days ago from The Twala Trust Animal Sanctuary, another very special cause we collectively support:
And another one...this tiny scrap just arrived. He's quite underweight and very stressed after a long car journey to us, but he'll settle into the comforting rhythm of our nursery once he has had some gentle nurturing from our carers. He was found next to his dead mum on a farm.
About half the money you help me raise through your subscription goes to the following four charities. Feel free to click on the underlined links to read more about them:
Wild is Life - home to endangered wildlife and the Zimbabwe Elephant Nursery; Twala Trust Animal Sanctuary - supporting indigenous animals as well as pets in extremely disadvantaged communities; Dongyu Gyatsal Ling Nunnery - supporting Buddhist nuns from the Himalaya regions; Gaden Relief - supporting Buddhist communities in Mongolia, Tibet, Nepal and India.
How personal and heartfelt is your video, David. Even after decades of daily meditation I drink in your reminders of its life-giving and transformative effects, and its centrality inmy life. It is the path less traveled for which my gratitude knows no limits. My world is so very enriched by your own work and purpose. I felt like you were speaking directly to me. Thank you! What Buddhism brings to my Centering Prayer practice is mind management, self giving, and greater appreciation for myself and others through lifetimes. Kathy
Happy New Year to you, David, and Koala and all the beautiful people who read your books and to all the animals and people who work with so much love and compassion in the lovely charities you support. Thank you for letting us be a part of that! Looking forward to more good and delightful things in 2024!
