Nice to be reminded. We walk along a wild part of the American River every day. It’s different every day, and you’ve reminded me to appreciate every second of our walk and the rest of the day as well.
Favorite passage "Perfect symmetry rarely exists in nature. There are few right angles or straight lines. Nature is untidy, even unruly. And left to its own devices, it gets along just fine. When we show up, perhaps feeling ugly because of our pimply skin, miserable because we are flat broke or full of self-loathing having committed some unspeakable sin, how much does nature care? Does the dog who drops the stick at your feet in the park do so because he perceives you as successful, beautiful or influential in some way?"
How wonderful (as always)! Its so interesting that the insights that we need come to us at just the right time! Reading your post brought me to exactly where I needed to be!
There is nothing nicer, I think, than to sit outdoors on a warm summer's evening to watch aircraft gliding home to Tullamarine with the glow of the city lights in the background; so restful, there comes a subtle peacefulness, connecting to the sensory experience.
I hear the sound of the trees around me with the rustling of their leaves. The cottonwood tree near where I sit has long-stemmed leaves giving off a steady rattling, sound as if they are communicating with each other. To quote our beloved Leonard Cohen:
"Sleep, baby, sleep,
There's a morning to come,
The wind in the leaves,
They're talking in tongues."
says it all I think.
Thank you again David for your post. Inspirational as always. Trish
I love this information. These two lines are just beautiful.
Nature’s peace will flow into you
as sunshine flows into trees.
And this is so helpful. My daughter is ill, the doctors don’t know what’s wrong with her after many tests. I will read your email to her and hope this will help her.
Our bodies are remarkable self-healing organisms when in a balanced state.
For me, the profound peace, joy, and connection I feel in nature cannot be duplicated any other way. And it grows with time. As you write, we are exchanging our very being with our world all the time - water, nutrients, energy. Our very atoms and atomic particles. Science helps us understand, but we don't need to be scientists to feel all these processes happening.

Lucky of you!

... and thank you Trish for sharing those beautiful Leonard Cohen lyrics and your own nature experience.

I certainly will, thank you Rossy!
Thank you for this wonderful article. It made me realize how I need to spend more time in nature
to seek comfort and support. And it also made me think more about what I can do on an individual
level to protect it. We must respect nature and remain humble and grateful.
So glad this article has been a helpful reminder, Suzanne!

I agree, Janice. The science is interesting - but unnecessary when we're able to experience the connection directly.
Sorry please ignore my question I’ve found the page in order to make the change. 💗
Glad to hear you resolved this, Lynda!
Would you please let me know how to provide with a new e-mail address as I have to change mine. Thank you Lynda Shetman
So true.
I am having so much fun inspecting the bark of all the different gums, their patterns and colours, abstract art to perfection!
Sounds intriguing, Sarah!
I have lorikeets screeching in the tree outside and I love it! Thanks for the great posts🙂
Yes, they are raucous, but i can't help smiling when I hear them!
And into the forest I go to lose my mind and find my soul. John Muir. My mantra
