So glad to hear of your enthusiasm, Lelia! I also enjoy HHC-land too. Let's see how the last book goes first - The Claw of Attraction. In the meantime, this is the place for all new writings from The Most Beautiful Creature that Ever Lived!
Thank you David, it’s quite a debate with various words. The two chosen were very good.
My interpretation
Of “Faith” is that it is something I believe in
But I have no experience in. Therefore I have faith in the understanding of the words and their collective meaning, and they resonate with me so that I will have faith in what I believe to be true.
“Confidence” is a word that I understand. It is because I have studied the subject and know just about everything
About it, therefore I am confident in my own ability to do or think of what is required. My confidence is the deciding factor. Faith is an unknown quantity and I
May believe what I have read and know about a subject, I have faith that the thinking behind a theory is great but do I have the confidence that it will work out.
It is fun to
Play with words like this as it makes one think and that is a good thing. Once you have faith in something, the idea is to test that faith and if it proves correct you will then gain confidence from it.
Thanks so much for sharing, Peter. I agree with your conclusion. And also, that thinking about the exact meaning of words helps us better understand the concepts they are supposed to convey.
Is wonderful to read HHC and His Holiness and if there is a place I would love to be is there Dharamshala, meditate with Summer and the other elephants and meet the people who cares about the animals. But I know is just a dream for me, because the trip is expensive for those living here in Mexico. Things are not going as well as we wish.
I love the words about Devotion.
Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge and the way you share it with all of us.
Interesting debate but I sort of went with HHC as it got deeper. Nice photos as always. Sorry about Harare - a chat called Starmer may want to see me. Well I can hope.
Relieved that the resolution of faith and confidence was not an either or answer. 😊 Experience builds faith and confidence in the Practice and practicing of the teachings of Buddha.
I agree with Lelia - delightful to be back in the world of HHC and His Holiness. Always a treasure.
Faith to me is total surrender. From this state we learn about living in flow and from that confidence and true humility are built.
The attitude to watch for carefully, in my opinion, is that the confidence does not turn to arrogance. There is a very fine line between confidence and arrogance - one is unifying, the other separating. I believe we have all seen this too often.
Thank you David. Part of a little poem I wrote years ago is this:
“I have my guiet faith
And my ultimate trust
In God and my dogs
And that’s enough.”
My confidence comes from my faith in my highest self…
Sometimes I take on huge projects often not really knowing if they might be a bit too ambitious and I really enjoy watching myself tackle this and that always ‘ consulting’ my highest self to see if this or that is for my highest good ,thereby for the highest good of all concerned…I wait for the go ahead which I refer to as a “ knowing “ and then I proceed with confidence which is “ my quiet faith” … so for me they are basically the same tho ultimate faith always comes first…❤️
How wonderful to be back in the world of HHC and His Holiness. Dare I hope that this chapter 1 of the 7th in the series?

Always a pleasure to be transported to Dharamshala...my happy place. Thank you for the visit.
Very happy to know this, thanks Stacey!
I once heard Faith defined as "the rational suspension of disbelief." Thanks for the thinking on faith and confidence. : )
Interesting, Jane. Many thanks for sharing that definition!
Wonder, precious wisdom. Brought to us with the delight of HHC. Thank you so much, David. 🙏🏼💖
My great pleasure, Sharadha!
For fun…In Hebrew, the following words all come from the same root (aleph, mem, nun)—they are related words: Faith, art, artist, believe, truth, amen.
I am always fascinated by how root words percolate out into so many different meanings. Faith and art ... intriguing!
Delightful indeed to be back in HHC world. So meaningful for me in all dimensions. I look forward to this connection continuing.
It certainly will, thanks Jody!

Dearest David,

Mexico
I know that Summer and the other elephants are in Zimbabwe, where I would love to be.
My heartfelt thanks, Rossy! So wonderful that you sense this connection.
Thanks for this insightful mouse bite from HHC. May we all benefit from her wisdom.
My pleasure, thanks Elaine. Coming up for elie time again next week ..!
Interesting debate but I sort of went with HHC as it got deeper. Nice photos as always. Sorry about Harare - a chat called Starmer may want to see me. Well I can hope.
I hear he's keen to get more homes built - I hope the call comes Tom!
Oops! I accidentally sent that before finished.
Thanks. I enjoy listening to to the goings on at Namgyal. I was fantasizing about a next HHC book. It's an object of attachment. Oh, dear.
Nevertheless I liked the snippet.
This seems to be something of a shared fantasy, Penelope! HHC has been dozing through this summer as her Transcriber toils on other things ..!
Thanks. I enjoy listening to to the goings on at Namg
🙏🏽 Live in Faith, not Fear 💜 Some days are easier than others... Confidence is what we often draw on for support to live in Faith. xoxo
Many thanks for sharing this, Lynn!

Love HHC as always.
I am guessing that few things are either/or, Penny. Practice certainly is the driver for confidence and faith.

Very interesting, Abhaya! I hadn't thought about confidence and self-confidence in this way.
