Dear Subscribers,
I hope this email finds you happy and relaxed this festive season! And able to find some contemplative time for yourself.
For those of you who may be looking for something uplifting to read - or an alternative to watching ‘Love Actually’ for the umpteenth time on TV! - I thought I’d gather together a few stories and posts that have been popular over the past couple of years.
You may have missed these, or only joined our little group after they were published. Or you might like to read them again.
I hope you find them uplifting!
This is a short story with a somewhat festive theme two Christmases ago:
Still on a seasonal theme, for those of you with an interest in the parallels between the teachings of Buddha and Jesus, you may like to explore this article. (It is a different post from the one about Buddha, Jesus and Einstein which I published recently):
I have to include a couple of mouse-size musings from the Dalai Lama’s Cat, lest she sink her fangs into my ankle:
Click through to another of HHC’s mouse-size musings, “Don’t be jealous of someone else’s Joe” here.
A number of readers printed out the table from this round up of the ten virtues and non-virtues:
A theme that proved popular during the year was the practice of equanimity when it comes to politics. I wrote a couple of posts on the subject, Politicians you loathe: Buddhist wisdom on letting go, which you can find here. And Disappointment: Four Buddhist insights, here.
If you prefer to watch something, you’ll find my ten minute video introduction to bodhichitta, the heart of Tibetan Buddhist practice, here.
And to explore all my posts, click the link below, and then ‘No thanks’ if you’re asked to subscribe. Scroll to the bottom of the posts shown and click ‘See all’ to do just that.
I hope you are able to find some time and space this week to withdraw from normal activity, to reflect and simply rest.
With heartfelt thanks from me and all the many beings whose happiness, mundane and supreme, you are supporting at this very moment.
David
